The Petals Q&A

Your names:
Jimmy and Harry Morris.

Where are you from?
South West London.

Name of band:
The Petals.

Who else is in your band?
So its us two, brothers, and then there’s these two diamond boys called Lewys (aka Big Lou) on drums, and Nubby, on bass.

How would you describe yourselves and your music?
Funny, kinda witty lyrics, with energetic catchy tunes. We want people dancing and singing along.. ideally. But we also have a couple of songs coming soon that don’t fit that mould.

Who are your main influences musically?
The main one is Lou Reed. His music got our dad into playing guitar, and then it trickled down to us. Also, The Cure, Arctic Monkeys, The Pixies, The Clash, The Libertines, and The Strokes.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Maybe we shouldn’t say until we have got there because we don’t want to jinx it, but we are aiming pretty high.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
There has been a few highlights, every time we get the approval of someone we look up to, that really motivates us and gives us the energy we feed off. Actually, to be honest, the approval of anyone does that to us.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Not sure! We must have already forgotten it...

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Stevie Nicks. The lyrics are about this criminal we accidentally came into contact with, called Steven, and he nicks things. He was a lovely guy to us, we don’t have a bad word to say...but there’s a lot of people who do. The song is all about the conversations we had with him. Musically, it sums us up, its fast and catchy, with a darker, discordant side.

Where can we listen to it?
