The Shade Q&A

Your name:
Nathan Griffiths.

Where are you from?
Accrington, Lancashire, England (lovely part of the country).

Name of band:
The Shade.

Who else is in your band?
Me, Grimmy who sings, Jordan Hunt on bass and Josh Greenwood on drums.

How would you describe yourselves?
We are four young working lads who share a goal to make something of ourselves through our music. We are very much typical 'lads', we enjoy Football, Saturdays, Vinyl Records, 60's Music, The Mod Scene and a good drink at the weekend!

Who are your main influences musically?
We all have a shared love in great bands like The Beatles, The Jam, The Who Oasis ETC.. but we individually have other various tastes in other indie music. Our drummer is into Joy Division and that sort of thing. At the moment I've really got into Rhythm n Blues .. stuff like Lou Reed and Dr Feelgood.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
To be honest I aim to achieve everything. We work hard, we are good musicians and are songs are really good. I don't see why we cant be in the charts in the next couple of years. I think we'll get a chance some day.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We played a storming gig called 'The Spirit of 79' in Clitheroe, Lancs last August.. That was mega. We played a blinder in front of around 600 people. I could see people singing along to our own tunes which felt really satisfying! Another could be travelling 300 miles down to Brighton to play for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Err.. we played a gig at the start of the year in a nightclub in Preston. It was the first Friday after new year. There wasn't one man and his dog in the place haha! We played for the owners and the dj's. We still had a laugh and played the gig.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Tommy (Aint Your Thief), only because its really sort of in your face and loud. You'll understand what were about when you hear it.

Where can we listen to it?
