Ellis Cullen.
Where are you from?
Manchester, UK.
Name of band:
The Anecdotes.
Who else is in your band?
Matt Hensley, Nick Bradford and Mike Rowlinson.
How would you describe yourselves?
A mixture of dreamy vocals, driving bass, powerful drums and catchy guitar melodies.
Who are your main influences musically?
Mainly, our influences are Foals, Peace, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Strokes and The Joy Formidable.
What do you hope to achieve in music?
We hope to spread the vibes, and make music that people will enjoy (whilst having fun along the way of course). We'd love to play a tiny, packed, sweaty venue too. That seems like something on our to-do list.
What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
We recently went to record our EP at Edge Recording Studios. We loved it there, and the people we worked with were mint. They also worked with people like Plan B, which is pretty rad.
And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Coming on stage with a baked guitarist, not knowing that halfway through a song he would just stop playing. He's not in the band any more. Nick (our bassist) joining the band a few months back was a big change too, we love him.
If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
That's tough. They're all pretty varied. One of our new, unreleased one's. In my opinion, that defines our sound the most.
Where can we listen to it?
Where can we find out more about your music?
We have a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/theanecdotes ), a Twitter account (@theanecdotes_), a SoundCloud page (www.soundcloud.com/the- anecdotes) and a YouTube channel (TheAnecdotesUK).
Anything else you’d like to say about your band that I forgot to ask?
We're mad for it.
