Within Striking Distance Q&A

Your name:
Stephen Foster.

Where are you from?
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Name of band:
Within Striking Distance.

Who else is in your band?
Lando Taves - Vocals
Ryan Frechette - Guitar
Warren Hayes - Drums
Myself - Bass

How would you describe yourselves?
We like to mix rock with hip hop, then we add a dash of blues and a hint of funk. Our fans have compared us to RHCP, STP, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam ect.

Who are your main influences musically?
Lando - The Tragically Hip, Dave Mathews Band, Paul Simon, Keith Murray, Erik Sermon, Head Stones.
Ryan - Pearl Jam, Blues Traveller, Alice In Chains.
Warren Hayes - Korn, Lamb Of God, Slipknot
Stephen - Korn, Greenday, Metallica, Slipknot

What do you hope to achieve in music?
We want to write music that can entertain, inspire, touch hearts, boil your blood and make you dance all at the same time. Our number one goal is to keep our fans happy, because with out fans.... you are nothing as a musician.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Our up coming western Canada tour. The reason why I say this and not something that has already happened because, we are touring with King Doom ft Chris Vrenna (the former drummer for: Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson) and many other great and talented musicians under the HMP Recording Label. Also there is going to be a TV crew there filming the whole tour for an upcoming reality TV show. Its an amazing opportunity for a band that has been together for less then two years.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
At one of our last shows we decided to work with a promoter for the first time, so we show up to the venue and the place is beginning to fill up. The first act was a guy and a girl doing an acoustic duet set, they were incredible. So we expected the rest of the acts to blow us away. The next opener was another solo acoustic act, Buddy called him self 'The Rock and Roll Bob Dylan'. this guy was horrendous, I have never seen EVERYONE in a venue get up and leave all at the same time like that before. He was so awful that the sound man left during his second song and never came back. When we took the stage there was less then 20 people left in the venue. That is one show we wish we could forget.

If you could choose just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Our next single called Believe. This tune is D-E-A-D-L-Y! It is full of attitude, energy and passion. It truly is ROCK at its finest!  We will be heading into the studio in a couple weeks to record it, so expect to hear it in the beginning of June 2013.

Where can we listen to it?
We have a few songs on there including our single Living in a Shadow.

Where can we find out more about your music?
